Young People, Mental Health and the Media
How and why young people with experience of mental health problems are fighting stigma through blogging, public events, and allowing their lives to be depicted in documentaries including BBC3’s ‘Don’t Call Me Crazy’ about a secure unit for young people.
Produced by a group of 15 – 19 year olds on a week long film course at Camden Summer University, with the support of the Time to Change campaign, Jane Merkin, London Metropolitan University and Camden City Learning Centre.
The documentary has recently been nominated for a Mind Mental Health Award and is being used in youth clubs in Camden as an educational tool.
